Stan Lee’s Daughter Sides With Sony Over Spider-Man Dispute. JC Lee, daughter to the late Stan Lee, has responded to the Disney-Sony negotiations and has sided with Sony against Disney and Marvel Studios.

JC Lee, short for Joan Celia Lee, has decided to not remain silent with her distaste for Disney and Marvel Studios and shared a fueled response with TMZ after it was reported that negotiations went south between Disney and Sony over the financial aspect of the rebooted Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland.

“When my father [Stan Lee] died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me. From day one, they have commoditized my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency,” said a furious Lee. “In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney’s executives.”

Many fans have responded to Lee online claiming her behavior has been questionable as well. Claims are being made that she is merely responding for the publicity and some hateful comments online suggest that she rides on the back of her fathers success and is unhappy that the deals do not allow for her to reap the financial benefits of her fathers work.

Though that is all speculation by disgruntled fans it seems Lee has poked the hornets nest and has been seeing retaliation from angered Marvel Fans on social media.

Disney has yet to comment on the negotiations, but Sony has shared a formal statement that remains relatively vague and appears to only imply that Kevin Feige is separating from the franchise and does not confirm Marvel Studios separation from Spider-Man.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.  We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

Though Feige’s involvement in the franchise has seemingly ended, lead man Tom Holland and Director, Jon Watts, are reportedly still contracted for at least 2 more Spider-Man films with Sony. Producer Amy Pascal is said to take over Feige’s role in the Spider-Man films for Sony.

There are plenty of reports stating that Disney and Sony are still in negotiations and that Sony has been more willing to talk after stocks began to plummet and investors began to panic after the initial reports came out about the split. We remain hopeful that an agreement can be made between Disney and Sony and that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man can stay in the MCU.
