Spider-Man Takes Broadway This November

Spider-Man Takes Broadway This November

Sure you’ve read the comics and seen the movies…but have you ever seen your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man swing across his spider-webs or climb up the wall in person?

Well now you’ve got your chance, as the musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” begins previews at Broadway’s Foxwoods Theatre on Sunday, November 14 leading up to its opening night on Tuesday, December 21.

And while you already know that Reeve Carney will play the Wallcrawler himself, we can now announce that Tony Award nominee Jennifer Damiano and Patrick Page will join the cast as Mary Jane Watson and Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, respectively!

With direction by the Tony Award-winning Julie Taymor (“The Lion King,” “Across the Universe”), a book by Taymor and Glen Berger and music and lyrics by U2’s Bono and The Edge, “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” is set to light the Great White Way ablaze this Winter!

What’s more, if you’re an American Express Cardmember, you’ll be able to purchase tickets during an exclusive pre-sale offer beginning August 14 via Ticketmaster.com, and tickets will be available to the general public in September, also via Ticketmaster.com.

Drawing from more than 40 years of Marvel comic books for inspiration, “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” spins a new take on the mythic tale of Peter Parker, a teenager whose unremarkable life in Queens is turned upside-down–literally–when he’s bitten by a genetically-altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to the ceiling. Bullied by his classmates and tortured by an unrelenting crush on next-door neighbor Mary Jane Watson, this science geek discovers he has suddenly been endowed with astonishing powers. He soon learns, however, that with great power comes great responsibility.

Maligned by the media, buffeted by financial woes, and stretched thin by the expectations of the world at large, Peter now must struggle to navigate the perilous and peculiar demands of being a web-slinging super hero. With the characters in “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” ranging from old familiar favorites to super villains imagined anew for the stage, Spider-Man’s battles will hurtle the audience through a story both recognizable and unexpected, culminating in an eye-popping, ultimate test for this iconic figure.

Stay glued to Marvel.com for more “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” updates over the next few months!
