Spider-Bots Ahoy! Spider-Man Swings Onto the Stern of the Disney Destiny
Are your Spidey senses tingling? That’s probably because the Disney Destiny — the next ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet — just got a super heroic upgrade! Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering are busy spinning their magic at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, bringing the “heroes and villains”-themed vessel to life. And this week, the Destiny hit a major milestone — or should we say a Marvel-ous one.

For the first time in Disney Cruise Line history, a Marvel character has claimed the coveted stern sculpture spot, and it’s none other than your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
Using cranes (not webbing, unfortunately), the shipyard crew hoisted the epic figure onto the back of the ship, where Spidey is now frozen mid-swing — joined by three mischievous, paint-wielding Spider-Bots. Together, they’re putting their finishing touches on the stern’s geometric filigree, which subtly mirrors the intricate designs of a spider’s web.
But this isn’t just any old superhero setup — the Spider-Bots are rocking their own cruise gear. We’re talking sunglasses, snorkel masks, and even some splashy yellow-dipped paintbrushes, because even bots need a vacation vibe. The whole scene is a playful, action-packed teaser of what guests can expect on board: a ship filled with nods to Disney legends and the timeless battle between good and evil.

Set to sail from its homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, beginning November 20, the Disney Destiny will be the third “Triton” class ship, following in the grand wake of the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. But with this bold new Marvel moment, Destiny is already proving she’s ready to stand out.
Want to track her progress? Disney Cruise Line has launched an official Disney Destiny Ship’s Log, where you can follow behind-the-scenes updates and exclusive peeks at the ship’s design as it readies for its maiden voyage. Bookmark it now — adventure (and possibly a few villains) awaits!
