'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' Almost Featured the 3 Live-Action 'Spider-Man' Actors

‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Almost Featured the 3 Live-Action ‘Spider-Man’ Actors. During a Quarantine Watch Party of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Producer Christopher Miller shared that originally he and the team behind Spider-Verse pitched an idea to bring all three live-action Spider-Men together for a special scene at the end of the film.

“We pitched the Sony brass an ambitious tag involving Spider-Ham, Tobey [McGuire], Andrew [Garfield], and Tom [Holland]. They felt it was “too soon,” shared Miller via Twitter.

Elaborating further, it appears the idea pitched to Sony’s top brass would have seen Spider-Ham interacting with Tobey McGuire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland‘s versions of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in a post credits scene that likely would have broke the internet the second it was shown. Talk about a missed opportunity!

“Of course I would love to make a movie with those guys, it would be so cool!” shared Tom Holland in an interview last year with ComicBook. “It would be amazing, it would be really, really cool. And it’s something that the fans really want. So whether Marvel and Sony decided to do that, it’s up to them. It’s not up to me, I can’t walk in like ‘Kevin [Feige], this is what we’re doing on the next one.’ But it would be really awesome.”

“There was [discussion],” Spider-Verse co-director Rodney Rothman said in a previous interview. “There were many thoughts about where we could put Tobey Maguire and others. I think after this film, those thoughts might have a little more traction. But before this movie, and introducing the idea of the ‘Spider-Verse’ to the audience, I think everybody was afraid that it would just really confuse people. But wow, it would have been fun.”

Though the studio may have shot down the idea for the first film, we do know a second film is in the works for Sony, so the possibility is always there for the sequel, so far it appears the idea has not been greenlit for the project. We will happily be proven wrong when the time comes (just saying, Sony).

Currently underway is the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a spin off film featuring Spider-Woman/Gwen Stacy from Spider-Verse, and a third live-action film for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. We are excited for each and every one of these projects, along with the rumored Spider-Man 2099 series for Disney+.
