The highly anticipated film, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” swung into action with a remarkable $120.5 million debut at the domestic box office. Sony’s animated sequel owes its success to rave reviews, positive word-of-mouth, and the goodwill generated by its predecessor, the Oscar-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” from 2018. Initial ticket sales for the sequel far exceeded its predecessor, which opened with $35.5 million. However, “Into the Spider-Verse” demonstrated enduring appeal, enjoying an extended theatrical run that resulted in $190 million in North America and a global total of $384 million.

“Across the Spider-Verse” also made a significant impact internationally, collecting $88.1 million from 59 territories in its box office debut. Leading the international charge was China, contributing $17.3 million. With these impressive figures, the film has already amassed a worldwide total of $208.6 million.

The film features the return of Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld as the voices of Miles and Gwen, respectively. The voice cast also includes Brian Tyree Henry, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Kaluuya, and Oscar Isaac. Audiences rewarded the film with an “A” CinemaScore, while critics acclaimed it with an impressive 95% average on Rotten Tomatoes.
