For guests with a special diet, navigating the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival can be a challenge. However, guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort during October 12-13, 2013 will have the opportunity to participate in several special diets related events hosted by Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW.
To kick off the weekend, guests can take part in a free Welcome Breakfast hosted at BabycakesNYC Bakery at Downtown Disney held on Saturday, October 12th at 9 a.m. Sponsored by Enjoy Life Foods, this event will offer guests a chance to meet the bakery team, enjoy mini donuts and mini Wonderbuns courtesy of BabycakesNYC, and take home some goodies from Enjoy Life and many other special diets vendors. This event is limited to 30 guests.
For guests wanting a more adult oriented experience, they can attend a Lunch & Learn event with food allergy cookbook author Laurie Sadowski at Raglan Road Irish Pub in Downtown Disney held on Saturday, October 12th at 1 p.m. Sponsored by Magner’s Hard Cider, this event is sure to please anyone craving traditional pub fare. Magner’s will have team members on hand to demo their hard ciders (valid ID required for guests over the age of 21 consuming alcoholic beverages) and food allergy cookbook author Laurie Sadowksi will discuss baking 101 tips that highlight the Magner’s products. In addition, the Raglan Road team has created a custom menu that is completely gluten free & dairy free and also contains vegan and vegetarian options as well their famous gluten free and dairy free fish and chips. The chefs from Raglan Road will meet with the group to explain their restaurant standards for special diets preparation. This event is also limited to 30 guests. This event is free, but guests are responsible for any food & beverage purchases made while attending the lunch & learn.
The grand finale of the weekend takes place on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the France Pavilion at Epcot. The 2nd Annual Special Diets Dessert Party will take place at this pavilion from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. and offers guests a taste of Food & Wine Festival inspired desserts that are free of the top 8 common allergens/intolerances including: gluten/wheat, dairy/milk/casein, soy, egg, peanut, tree nut, fish and shellfish. Desserts have been created especially for the party by Disney’s Catered Events and includes: All America Chocolate Bacon Whoopee Pies (vegan versions will also be available), Asian Green Tea and Ginger Glazed Mini Donuts, French Apple Cocotte and more. Tickets are $50 per person (ages 4 and older) and will include an all-you-care-to-enjoy special diets dessert buffet, private viewing area of IllumiNations, and gift bags and giveaways from various special diets vendors and more.
