‘Space Mountain’ Movie In Development by Disney Nabs ‘Kenobi’ Series Writer. A new Space Mountain inspired film “is in the works” at Disney and Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi series writer, Joby Harold (Army of the Dead, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) has been signed on to pen the script.
Both Joby Harold and his wife Tory Tunnell (Underground, Spinning Out) will act as producers for the film under their Safehouse Pictures production banner for Disney. Though the film is still in the early stages THR shares that the film is slated to get a theatrical release, but no premiere date has been announced at this time. Not much is known about the storyline of the movie, but the muse and inspiration for the new film is the iconic Disney Parks attraction, Space Mountain.
A description for the ride featured in Tomorrowland at the Disney Parks shares,”Dip and careen into the inky blackness as a futuristic soundtrack echoes all around you. Fly past shooting stars and celestial satellites. Roar past streaking orbs of light, wayward comets and migrant meteors. Feel the pull of gravity as you’re drawn into a swirling wormhole!”
