Sony Pushes ‘Morbius’ Release Date for the Sixth Time

Sony Pushes 'Morbius' Release Date for the Sixth Time

Just for context about why Marvel fans are disgruntled over another delay for the Jared Leto-led Morbius film, the first teaser trailer for Morbius premiered BEFORE filming began for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Yup, you read that correctly. This new delay now also makes Morbius the “most delayed” movie of all time, with the previous record being help by The New Mutants which recieved 5 different release dates before its debut in 2020. Morbius now claims a 6th release date, and is not immune to even more delays in the future.

Though we are eager to see the film sooner rather than later, Sony Pictures has rescheduled the theatrical release of Morbius from January 28th to April 1st, nearly two years from the initial release date of July 10, 2020. Reportedly, one factor for the film’s pushback is Sony’s hope to relish in the continued success of Spider-Man: No Way Home at the box office, but most outlets speculate the studio is more concerned about the spike in omicron variant cases throughout the globe.
