Solara’s Enchanted Pumpkin Tree Show Debuts on the Disney Destiny
Ahead of the inaugural season for the Disney Destiny, Walt Disney Imagineering has released an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Solara, the Enchanted Pumpkin Tree, revealing how the team brings this glowing autumn spectacle to life inside the ship’s Grand Hall.
The Disney Destiny, which centers on a design theme celebrating Disney heroes and villains, will feature Halloween on the High Seas for the very first time.
In a video shared by Walt Disney Imagineering, show director Philip offered insight into how the team designed the show around the ship’s core motif.
“We wanted to take the duality of the theme of the ship, which is heroes and villains, and put them together in a celebration of how do you celebrate Halloween,” explained Philip.
The show spotlights Solara—a large, glowing animatronic tree adorned with intricate branches and hanging jack-o’-lanterns. To create an immersive experience throughout the Grand Hall, Imagineers worked late into the night perfecting the lighting effects across the ship’s surrounding architecture and crafting a custom soundscape with dialogue and music echoing all around the space. Daytime rehearsals allow live performers to interact seamlessly with Solara’s lighting and audio cues.
While Solara makes her grand debut on the Disney Destiny, each ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet boasts its own uniquely named Pumpkin Tree with a distinct personality and backstory:

- Disney Fantasy: Muckelbones
