I’m sure quite a few of you are as excited about the new Oz film, ‘Oz: the Great and Powerful’, which will be hitting theaters on March 8, 2013, as I am. Directed by Sam Raimi, the brilliant man behind Sony’s original ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy, as well as the cheeky B-movie horror trilogy of ‘The Evil Dead’, starring Bruce Campbell, the film tells the tell of just how the man known as Oz, played by James Franco, gained his power and reputation in Oz. The film also stars Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, and looks to deliver a new and exciting tale set in the Oz universe that we haven’t seen before. With just a little over a month until the release day, Disney’s marketing campaign is hard at work, and they’ve now provided us with a sneak peek at the this Sunday’s Super Bowl spot, as well as some new character posters. Hit the jump to check them out and, and tell us what you think in the comments below, only here at Chip and Company!
Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.
