Be sure to visit Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin on your next visit to SeaWorld Orlando. You will notice that there is one little penguin who does not look like the others. The reason for this? She is wearing her very own custom-made wetsuit.
This adorable female Adelie penguin has experienced feather-loss, which can happen to penguins in their natural habitats and wild populations. As a result of this feather-loss, she had difficulty naturally regulating her body temperature. SeaWorld Orlando’s aviculture team set out to assist her and created a wetsuit that mimics her former coat of feathers. The coat was designed and sewn by SeaWorld’s wardrobe department and custom fit just for her.
The wetsuit is serving this sweet little penguin well. She swims, sleeps, and eats alongside her fellow penguins. This is just another extraordinary example of how SeaWorld Orlando cares for the marine animals at the park.

That’s so awesome – and adorable. Unfortunately I fear that animal-rights-radicals may still find a negative twist on this positive effort on Sea World’s part. But I think they should keep putting out these positive messages about their caring and successful efforts!
