SeaWorld San Diego Launches Live Holiday Penguin Cam
This holiday season, you don’t need a parka to get a front-row seat to the Antarctic. SeaWorld San Diego has officially brought back its fan-favorite Penguin Cam, offering a 24/7 digital window into the playful lives of its resident penguin colony throughout December.
Whether you’re looking for a peaceful “snowy” backdrop for your workday or a fun way to entertain the kids, the live stream captures over 200 penguins as they waddle, swim, and socialize in their chilly San Diego habitat.

A Global Peak into the Penguin Encounter
The Penguin Cam streams directly from the Penguin Encounter, one of the park’s most iconic attractions. Audiences worldwide can watch five distinct species interact in real-time:
- King Penguins: The second-largest penguin species, known for their bright orange patches.
- Adelie: Famous for their classic “tuxedo” look and spirited personalities.
- Gentoo: Easily identified by the white “bonnet” stripe across their heads.
- Chinstrap: Named for the narrow black band under their heads.
- Macaroni: Notable for their striking orange/yellow head crests.

Behind the Scenes: 4,000 Pounds of Snow
The live feed offers more than just cute “waddling” footage. Viewers get an exclusive look at the specialized care required to keep these birds thriving. You might catch the animal care team in action as they:
- Perform daily health exams and feedings.
- Facilitate enrichment activities to keep the birds engaged.
- Maintain the habitat with the daily addition of more than 4,000 pounds of fresh snow.
Penguins and snow are an iconic part of the holiday season… sharing our penguin colony with the world can show how special these animals are, motivate people to learn more about them, and spread a little joy,” says Eric Otjen, Vice President of Zoological Operations.

How to Watch
