Scrim Erected at Rock n Roller Coaster to Hide Villain Show Construction

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests in the Rock n Roller Coaster queue will now find their view of the Sunset Showcase Theater blocked by newly installed scrim, due to construction of the upcoming Disney Villains show.

Dark green scrim has been installed along the wall separating the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster queue from the Sunset Showcase Theater, formerly Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, on Sunset Boulevard.

Installed from the covered part of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster outdoor queue, the scrim runs halfway along the wall, preventing any view past it.

At the wall’s end, rolling planters define the boundary between attractions. Above the scrim and hedge, remnants of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, including its outdoor stage, are still visible.

To accommodate the upcoming “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” stage show, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, a 10-minute attraction featuring an animatronic Lightning McQueen and a virtual race against Chick Hicks, permanently closed on October 7, 2024.

The “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” show, with an approximate runtime of 40 minutes, is slated for a Summer 2025 premiere, though a specific date has not been announced.
