Universal Studios Hollywood is whisking guests straight onto its iconic movie studio backlot via Studio Tour trams for an all-original adventure: Scooby-Doo Meets The Universal Monsters: Mystery on the Backlot. This immersive experience at Universal Fan Fest Nights perfectly fuses high-stakes theatrics, suspense, and classic humor into an engaging live-action “whodunnit” mystery that only the Mystery Inc. gang and the legendary Universal Monsters could deliver.

In this clever new adventure, guests are cast as “extras” on a fictitious monster movie set—until the production is hijacked! A mysterious villain known as The Phantom Director unleashes the legendary Universal Monsters—including Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man—throwing the entire backlot into absolute chaos and halting the film.
Armed with a “Mystery Manual,” you’ll join forces with Scooby-Doo, Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy to unmask the Phantom Director. This immersive experience lets you explore Universal’s world-famous outdoor sets at your leisure, including the cobblestone streets of Little Europe and the infamous Court of Miracles. These are the very locations where horror history was made in films like Frankenstein (1931) and The Wolf Man (1941)! By uncovering a series of hidden clues, you’ll help the gang solve the mystery, identify the villain, and get the cameras rolling again.
To top it all off, you’ll find incredible photo ops featuring the Mystery Inc. team, the Universal Monsters, and the iconic Mystery Machine, perfect for capturing some spooky, social-friendly memories.
