Sailing to New Heights the Disney Dream Cruise Ship

Sailing to New Heights the Disney Dream Cruise Ship

Have you seen her?

The new Disney Dream cruise, she’s a dream! She starts sailing on January 26, 2011 from Port Canaveral, Fl.
Just as Disney is a magical experience for everyone, so are their cruises.

The new Disney Dream will take family cruising to an all new heights; this cruise has new and exciting things that no other cruise line offers!

Like the new AquaDuck, the very first water coaster at sea. This high-speed combination roller coaster-water slide is a see-through acrylic tube — the length of 2-1/2 football fields — that winds around the top deck from funnel to funnel.

Inside cabins will now have a window to the outside world via virtual portholes. High-definition cameras placed outside the ship feed actual footage of the seascape to the flat-screen “portholes” inside. Four cameras positioned on the exterior of the ship (two port and two starboard) will stream live video footage onto high-definition “windows,” synchronized to the ship’s movement (you can turn it off if you’d prefer not to see the sea!). Special “guests” will swim by, including Peach the starfish from “Finding Nemo,” Mickey Mouse and a haunted pirate ghost ship. Also, the beds have been raised so that luggage can easily fit underneath. And in cabins with pull-down beds, a starry night scene will grace the ceiling directly overhead.

For kids, It’s a Small World Nursery accommodates infants and toddlers three months to three years. A one way window allows parents to look in on their children without interrupting their play or nap time.

  • The Oceaneer Club for 3 to 10 year-olds “Toy Story” comes to life in Andy’s Room; kids will experience being “toy sized” in this space with its gigantic features.
  • At the Magic Theater, Crush from “Finding Nemo” will interact with kids via a 103-inch plasma screen, answering their questions.
  • There will also be a play area called Monsters Academy, visited regularly by Mike, from “Monsters Inc.” The Explorer Pod, a “Finding Nemo” themed submarine, which has 16 interactive computer stations for gaming.

And last but not least, Disney cruise lines caters to adults just as much as families and kids. Disney Dream will feature Pink, an upscale champagne bar featuring back-lit glass bubbles; Metro Pub, where you can watch sport events, the District Lounge, where you’ll find live piano music; Skyline, a chic “sky bar” and don’t forget the pampering the spa has to offer! Here is an inside look of the Animators Palate Restaurant.

There is so much more on the Disney Dream, which is still under wraps, but for now this ship is a dream come true for kids and adults. For more information on the Disney Dream check out previous Disney Dream articles here.
