Rumored: Mace Windu Star Wars Project “In Development” at Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm is bustling with Star Wars projects including live-action series and a new round of films currently in the works, but it seems there is a new project being added to the ever growing list. Rumor has it, Lucasfilm and Disney are developing a young Mace Windu series or film following the more formative years of the prequels Jedi Master. But don’t worry Samuel L. Jackson fans! Reportedly, Jackson will still make appearance in various scenes as an older version of the character, but the primary focus will be on a younger Mace Windu who will be featured by another actor.
Last June, Samuel L. Jackson stated that he would love to return as Windu in another Star Wars project, sharing on The Late Show, “I’d really love to give one more run at Mace Windu in Star Wars. There’s a long history of one-handed guys that were Jedis, that have lightsabers, that still made it. Jedi’s can fall from incredible heights and not die, like cats.”
ComicBook.com shared the scoop and posted, “According to ace scooper @DanielRPK, Windu has a standalone project in development focusing on a younger version of the fan-favorite. Played by Samuel L. Jackson in the prequel trilogy, it’s said the majority of the project will focus on the younger version of the character, who will be played by a new actor. All is not lost for Jackson fans, however, as it’s also said the actor will reprise the role in select scenes. It’s unclear if it’s expected to be a series for Disney+ or one of the many films in active development for 2022 and beyond.”
