The Rivers of America in Magic Kingdom have been drained and construction work continues on the river bed.
Along with the river being drained, the Liberty Belle Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have been closed for refurbishment.
We recently visited Magic Kingdom to take a look at the construction’s progress.
The crew working on the river bed was seen smoothing new dirt over the areas next to the boat track. It also looks like there is work being done on the Liberty Belle track itself. New concrete posts and track pieces could be seen.
Obviously the Liberty Square Riverboat is not functional at this time. Both Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat are included on the refurbishment schedule.
A February reopening date has been announced for the Liberty Square Riverboat, so it should reopen for guests to ride within the next few months. The current refurbishment will help make Magic Kingdom magical for the 50th anniversary!
