The Liberty Square Riverboat at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has been undergoing a refurbishment for about eight months now. Most of the work on the Riverboat has taken place “above water” until now.
Recently, some of the water in Rivers of America has been drained so the track for the Liberty Square Riverboat can be worked on. Check out the photos below to see what a portion of Rivers of America looks like currently:
While the Liberty Square Riverboat is not functional at this time, Tom Sawyer Island is still open for guests to enjoy as a barrier has been installed to make sure all of the water is not drained.
A reopening date has not been announced for the Liberty Square Riverboat but it should be reopened for guests to ride within the next few months. Make sure to keep it here with Chip & Co. for all the latest!

I’m sure there will be a lot of upset people, but I can definitely see that space being sued for other things!
I say, fill it in, and use it and Tom Sawyer’s Island for usable park space… and new attractions!
