Universal Orlando Moves Up Closing Date for Rip Ride Rockit—Last Chance to Ride Is August 18!
Hold onto your headphones, thrill seekers—Universal Orlando has just dropped a major update, and it’s turning up the volume on the end of an era. The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, known for blasting tunes and adrenaline in equal measure, is officially rocking out for the last time on August 18, 2025. That’s right—earlier than initially expected.

When Universal first announced the coaster’s closure, fans were bracing for a bittersweet farewell in September 2025, but a quiet update to the Universal Orlando app has fast-tracked that timeline. Now, with just a few weeks of summer left to shred those vertical climbs and high-speed loops to the sound of your favorite custom soundtrack, the countdown has officially begun.
Rip Ride Rockit opened in 2009 and quickly became a guest favorite thanks to its unique onboard audio system, which let riders pick from a secret playlist of rock, rap, country, and more. It’s the only ride in the park where you could literally scream your head off while vibing to “Kickstart My Heart” or discovering the hidden “Rainbow Connection.” The ride has become increasingly rough in recent years, leaving Universal with the decision of whether to commit to a major refurbishment or to raze the ride to make way for a new attraction.

While Universal hasn’t yet revealed what will replace the iconic coaster, many fans are keeping an eye on Universal Studios Hollywood and the construction of the new Fast & Furious roller coaster, hoping that attraction may be also making its way to the East Coast.
So if you want to take one last spin and salute a coaster that’s been cranking out thrills for over 15 years, now’s your moment. Get in line, cue up your soundtrack, and let the good times roll before the curtain officially closes on August 18.
