Rick Moranis Is Officially Returning For The “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” Reboot. It’s Official! Rick Moranis is coming out of retirement from acting to reprise his role as Wayne Szalinski, who accidentally shrunk his children and two of his neighbors children in the famous original film, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, released in 1989. The new film is simply called “Shrunk” and will take place decades after the events of the original film.

Josh Gad (Frozen) is the only known other casting choice at the moment and will play the grown up version of Wayne’s son, Nick Szalinski, for the new film. Shrunk is set to have a theatrical release (to be announced at a later time), and will not premiere on Disney+ as previously believed. Shrunk will begin filming some in Spring 2020.
Are you excited to hear Moranis is returning to this iconic role? Do you think he will come out of retirement to work on other new titles? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney!
