I had the pleasure of playing Cars 2 the Video Game this past week on the Nintendo Wii. I have only 2 words that will sum up this video game. Very Cool!
Having played other Disney titles over the years Cars 2 is a great all around fun game. It reminds me of Mario Cart but with our beloved Pixar’s Cars Characters.
When you first start the game your pick your character and are brought in as an agent of CHROME. You complete missions to learn how to play the game. Which I though was a very nice touch for both young and old. My little one was able to grasp how to play the game through the Mission/Tutorial.
Overall the whole game just has that racing type feel to it. I don’t want to keep comparing it to Mario Cart as it shares some similarities with it but instead of banana peels and turtle shells you are using machine guns and rocket launchers.
While it does have a quest line you can complete, there is also capture the flag, arena blaster, and some sweet multi-player racing fun.
My five year old was able to play the game pretty straight forward. She did have some issues with drifting and using her turbo boost meter. I would say if your kids are over 7 they should be fine.
The game is totally geared towards boys so keep that in mind when purchasing. While my little girl loves Cars and really enjoyed the Mater Game so not every girl will be like that.
Overall since Pixar helped in creating this game it doesnt steer far from the movie. All the characters from the movie make an appearance in the game and if you jumped on the Cars bandwagon this will be one you want to add to your video game collection. My only complaint is a missing minimap while your racing. While it is no deal breaker it would have been nice.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks to Disney for allowing me to check it out and review it!
Cars 2 the video game is out now on all platforms so race into your nearest store and pick up a copy today.
