Resellers Selling MuppetVision 3D Glasses Following Show’s Closure

Disney’s Hollywood Studios bids farewell to a beloved classic, and online marketplaces are already teeming with mementos.

With the heartfelt closure of MuppetVision 3D, a staple at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for over three decades, online resellers have wasted no time in capitalizing on the moment. Listings for the iconic purple 3D glasses, once a necessary tool for experiencing the zany antics of Kermit and Miss Piggy, are now appearing across various e-commerce platforms.

This unfortunate, though increasingly common, phenomenon sees resellers quickly moving to acquire and sell items from popular or newly closed Disney attractions. The allure of owning a piece of park history, especially from an attraction with such a dedicated fanbase and historical significance as MuppetVision 3D, drives this secondary market.

Now that MuppetVision 3D has officially ceased public operations (with its final day being June 7, 2025), resellers have begun listing the distinctive purple 3D glasses for sale online. Early listings show prices starting around $40, with some quick sales already recorded and several pairs still available. More ambitiously, some listings are advertising the glasses as specifically being from “the last show,” commanding a significantly higher asking price of $99.95 or best offer. These higher-priced listings are already attracting numerous “watchers,” indicating a strong interest from collectors and eager fans.

While initial asking prices vary widely from $20 starting bids to nearly $100 for a single pair, actual sold prices for items purchased on or after June 7 reflect a range of $15.96 to $41, demonstrating the immediate demand.

The appeal extends beyond just the glasses. Several listings bundle the MuppetVision 3D glasses with other commemorative items, such as pressed pennies. The final days of MuppetVision 3D and its neighboring PizzeRizzo saw extended queues, not just for a last experience, but also for the pressed penny machine, highlighting the high demand for tangible souvenirs from the closing area. One such combination listing of glasses and pennies reportedly sold for $55 on the evening of June 7.

This trend is not isolated to MuppetVision 3D. A similar surge in reselling occurred with the closure of “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!” in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Listings from that attraction’s closure still feature its distinctive black, antennae-adorned “bug eye” glasses alongside those from MuppetVision 3D. These “bug eye” glasses had only made a reappearance at the attraction on March 16 for its own final day of operation, having been replaced by the purple 3D glasses earlier in February. Reseller “lots” of these glasses first began to surface online in March following “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!”‘s closure.

It’s also important to note that this reseller phenomenon isn’t exclusive to Disney. Universal theme parks have also faced similar situations. Notably, several limited-edition Universal Epic Universe grand opening day items, including special merchandise only available during the media preview, quickly appeared on reseller websites. The highly coveted Epic Universe grand opening medallion, for example, was listed for staggering prices ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each.

As beloved attractions like MuppetVision 3D make way for new experiences, the secondary market for park memorabilia continues to thrive, fueled by eager fans and collectors looking to hold onto a piece of cherished theme park history.
