Disney World, and all the other area theme parks have to report injuries to the state quarterly. So, it was recently made public that in July a 55 year old woman, Pamela Lynn Haynes, from Tennessee, lost consciousness after getting off Space Mountain.
She was taken to Florida Hospital Celebration Health and was put in ICU. She died of cardiopulmonary arrest and septic shock. She did have some serious pre-existing conditions like hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and congestive heart failure. In previous years reports have shown that 3 other guests have passed away after going unconscious on or immediately after riding Space Mountain. They also had pre-existing conditions.
There are warning signs posted before you get on the ride warning you not to ride if you have certain health concerns.
Our condolences go out to the family.

Is this report public? Where can we see it?
Um… If she died of “septic shock”, even with “cardiopulmonary arrest”, then she had a significant and severe infection, and this had nothing to do with the ride, except maybe that the ride exacerbated her symptoms to the point that she got to a hospital where the gravity of her underlying condition was learned.
