After hearing the premise for the TV series Red Widow I was immediately drawn to this compelling family drama. Add in the fact that it was being written by the screenwriter for Twilight, and I was instantly a fan. Filled with murder and intrigue, Red Widow follows housewife Marta Walraven’s dangerous journey into organized crime as she stops at nothing to protect her family. With a plot like that, viewers are sure to be on the edge of their seats. With the release of Red Widow: The Complete First Season on a two disc DVD set May 28th, viewers will get a chance to watch the mayhem as the search continues to uncover the truth about season one’s most explosive murder. This truly is an exciting release, especially for those of us who enjoy DVD extras. This set is jam packed with them, containing deleted scenes (my personal favorite), bloopers, and exclusive content such as “Red Widow Journey” where fans get to join creator Melissa Rosenberg to learn about the creative process behind the development of making the exciting series!
I have been impressed with the cast list of this series. Title character Marta Walraven is being portrayed by Radha Mitchell and ER fans will recognize Goran Visnjic who is a welcome addition to the cast as Nicholae Schiller. For those interested, the series is also based on a Dutch series Penzoa. It’s always fun to watch the original series that inspired the U.S. version. Luckily, with 8 episodes and 344 minutes of family drama, we have plenty to watch with the release of this DVD set.
