Oh he just can’t wait to be king – or maybe it should be to sing! A record deal JD McCrary signed with Disney is pretty huge!
McCrary, who is playing Simba in Disney’s remake of “The Lion King,” premiering in 2019, just signed a record deal worth a pretty penny. McCrary’s contract with Disney’s Hollywood Records has the young singer set to receive an $80,000 for 12 master recordings. Those recording can then be released on one album or in groups of songs.
Not only that, but the label will take on up to $170,000 of production incurred during the making of the album. They have also set a $15,000 budget for each music video McCrary wants to make.
While the first album has a nice pay day attached to it, the checks get bigger and bigger the more albums McCrary makes with Disney.
For his second album he would make between $400,000 and $800,000, the third album would be $450,000 to $900,000. When he hits the 4th and 5th albums he’s looking at $500,000 to $1 Million. And finally for a 6th album McCrary would make $550,000 to 1.6 Million.
Whew! Apparently Disney sees big things in McCrary’s future so it’s time we all took notice.
Not only his McCrary set to play the role of Simba in the 2019 remake of The Lion King, he currently stars on the OWN Network show, “The Paynes.”
