Imagine owning a sketch drawn and signed by Walt Disney himself. Well now someone can! A rare Donald Duck sketch sold at auction last month for quite the sum!
This pencil drawing, signed by Disney, was sold by Nate D. Sanders Auctions in Los Angeles. The bidders are unknown, but the amount they paid, $11,949, is not!
The drawing is not dated, but it features Donald Duck as he was originally introduced in the 1930’s. Mickey’s pal is wearing his signature sailor hat. The sketch, measuring 13×17 has been matted and framed. Both Disney’s block-style signature and the sketch itself were authenticated.
“It’s rare to find a Donald Duck illustration hand drawn and signed by Walt Disney himself,” said Nate D. Sanders auction manager Michael Kirk. “Disney famously delegated almost all animation work to his team of talented animators, making this piece very unique and collectable.”
Can you imagine owning a drawing of such a classic Disney character drawn by Walt himself?! How incredible would it be to even get to see something like that in person. But be honest, would you spend almost $12,000 to make it happen!?
