Ralph Breaks the Internet breaks records with the best opening weekend numbers of any Disney animated sequel! Forbes is reporting that Walt Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet earned a near-record $84.5 million in its first five days of domestic release! As a matter of fact, the sequel beat out Moana’s opening Thanksgiving launch(it came in at $82m back in 2016). Ralph came in just under Tangled($93m in 2013) which was another big Thanksgiving release. Thanksgiving is typically a huge weekend for the box office as so many have family in town and the weekend off work. It’s usually a tradition in my family that we take all of the cousins and go see a movie. We have been doing it since we were little.
The opening comes as a bit of a surprise with all of the other films released this weekend. Usually, sequels don’t match the opening strength of an original release or first run film. It just goes to show you that 9 years later we were ready to see Ralph and Vanelope come back on the big screen with all of their new friends. Have you gone to see Ralph Breaks the Internet yet? I would see it again and again. My whole family laughed the entire time and we especially loved the cameos throughout the flick as well!
2019 is going to be huge for Walt Disney Picutures! Which new release are you looking forward to the most? I can’t wait for Toy Story 4, but I also don’t know if I am ready for the emotional rollercoaster that comes with it.
