Queen of Katwe Star Passes Away From Brain Tumor at Age 15. Nikita Pearl Waligwa passes away after battle with a returning brain tumor.
Nikita had been diagnosed with a brain tumor initially in 2016, and had recovered in 2017. In 2019 the tumor returned and caused her recent passing.
Nikita played the role of Gloria, the friend of chess prodigy, Phiona Mutesi, in Disney’s Queen of Katwe, a story based on a true story of a chess prodigy from the slums of Uganda.
