‘Romy and Michele 2’ is Officially Filming
Romy and Michele are back for the ultimate reunion you’ve been waiting for! On Monday morning, 20th Century Studios took to Instagram to officially announce that a sequel to the cult classic, titled Romy and Michele 2, is now in production. The exciting post featured a photo of Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow with their backs to the camera, sitting in chairs customized with the brand-new movie title.

Based on the announcement photo, the iconic duo appears to be filming a scene inside a diner—leaving fans to wonder if they finally stopped in for the businesswomen’s special!
This major milestone comes nearly six months after Mira Sorvino teased the project on the KTLA 5 Morning News, revealing they were “inches away from the green light” thanks to securing a California tax credit. At the time, Sorvino shared that filming was targeting a June start date, confidently adding, “It’s coming. I’m manifesting it.”
Clearly, those manifestations paid off perfectly.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, fans won’t have to head to theaters for this reunion. The highly anticipated sequel is set to stream exclusively on Hulu as a Hulu Original and will be available on Disney+ for bundle subscribers. International viewers will also be able to catch all the fun directly on Disney+.

An All-Star Cast Returns Fans will be thrilled to know that Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino aren’t the only ones returning for the sequel! Original cast members Alan Cumming, Janeane Garofalo, Camryn Manheim, and Julia Campbell are all officially reprising their roles.
Plus, The Hollywood Reporter notes that some incredible new comedy royalty is joining the fun, including Keegan-Michael Key, Rob Huebel, Breckin Meyer, Patrick Warburton, and Nathan Lee Graham.
A Reunion 30 Years in the Making While 20th Century Studios is keeping the official release date under wraps for now, this sequel comes nearly 30 years after the original hit theaters. Released in 1997, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion captured our hearts by following inseparable best friends Romy White (Sorvino) and Michele Weinberger (Kudrow) as they invented fake, high-flying careers (and took credit for inventing Post-its!) just to impress their former classmates at their 10-year reunion.
