Standouts…
The featurette “An Inside Look: The Violation of Charlotte King” gives fans of the show great insight into the research and great care the cast and crew took to tell the story of Charlotte’s rape. The deleted scenes and blooper reel is on par with what usually comes with the ABC boxed sets.
What makes this collection great is the storytelling. In this season Addison tries to save her Mother’s partner Susan. Amelia Shepherd faces her own demons as she performs a surgery on a person, while drunk. The lawsuit against Violet puts the entire practice under investigation. A patient claims Violet’s book has violated doctor-patient confidentiality and tests the professionalism and friendship of the doctors. The biggest standout this season is without a doubt KaDee Strickland’s performance as Charlotte deals with her assault and recovery. The careful weaving of these various storylines and character development throughout the season is what viewers love and come to expect from this series.
The verdict…
Although the bonus features have a lot to be desired the stories and masterful acting by the entire ensemble make this a great addition to your TV on DVD collection. My only hope is that the entire group behind this series continues to grow and develop bringing viewers some great dramas that is worth watching in the sea of forgettable “reality” television.
