Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Press Conference for Disney’s newest movie was held in Beverly Hills recently.
The hilarious cast and crew of the movie provided some hilarious moments and insight into the making of Alexander’s bad day.
Steve Carell “Ben”, Jennifer Garner “Kelly”, Ed Oxenbould “Alexander”, Kerris Dorsey “Emily”, Dylan Minnette “Anthony”, Bella Thorne “Celia took their seats and the fun began.
Jennifer Garner started by sharing how the movie showed a basic day at her house and how working with Dick Van Dyke (Chim Chim Cheree) was so exciting. Steve talked about working with Miguel Arteta on “The Office” so working with him on this movie was great, because he was able to find a very human quality to the movie and the ensemble was amazing. “We all felt like a unit and that’s the way I like to work. ”
Jennifer was asked about the difference in this mom role versus the others she has been playing. Jennifer said she enjoyed this new role lately playing different moms and when asked if there was a bad side to being too positive. Jennifer replied there was because you need to be able to allow your kids to have a bad day once in a while. Steve Carell was up next comparing what it was like to go from working with adults in The Office to working with kids. His response was “it was the worst” which had the room laughing and then clarified it by adding that “you can’t read irony in print” and then went on to say they were all great including the babies and had nothing but love for these special kids. While the kids were asked what they thought about their movie parents and Ed replied that his “movie parents were better than his real parents.” Kerris shared that as a fan it was great to work with them and be a family. Bella Thorne was asked What was it like being a part of the Cooper family for Bella? She replied that for Bella this day is super important (the prom) “and you don’t mess with prom”. She also talked about the difficulties of playing a mean girl.
The entire cast talked about preparing for the stunts by using real life experiences. Kerris said it was her dream to play peter pan and was able to do so in the movie.
Media question for Steve and Jennifer — “How do you as parents lift up your kid’s spirits during a bad day.” Steve said he and his wife dealt with it by not being overly sensitive and leaving their kids to work through it without parents trying to make it better. But it’s a tough part holding back trying to make it better and not fix everything.
My favorite question and answer was — what do you hope families get out of this movie Jen feels excited to bring a real family movie that teenagers and young kids will like. Her daughter’s favorite part was the scene with Steve and kangaroo.
Ending the Q&A — we were asked to stay in our seats and were treated to a few minutes of dancing by the crew from Thunder from Down Under who appear in movie. The G rated dance routine was a treat and made the press conference a memorable one.
This is a family movie that shows that no matter how hard a day, as a family you can make it through anything. Don’t miss the movie premiere on October 10, 2014.
