Potential Tropical Cyclone One heading for Florida this weekend
According to the National Hurricane Center, a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Brevard, Osceola, and Polk counties. This means tropical storm conditions are expected to develop within the next 36 hours.
As of 8 a.m. Friday, the system was located about 125 miles north of Cozumel, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. Potential Tropical Cyclone One was moving northeast at 6 mph.
“The system is expected to develop a well-defined center and become a tropical storm later today, and some slight strengthening is possible while it approaches Florida today and tonight. Additional strengthening is possible after the system moves east of Florida over the western Atlantic late Saturday and Sunday,” according to the National Hurricane Center update.

Much of Walt Disney World is in southwestern Orange County, with the remainder in adjacent Osceola County. Universal Orlando is also in Orange County.
The worst of Central Florida weather is expected to be between 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday.
