The sights and sounds of Mardi Gras are a staple of New Orleans culture, and as a resort themed after New Orleans, the cast members at Disney’s Port Orleans resort work hard each year to bring the celebration to life in central Florida.

The Mardi Gras celebrations at Port Orleans include themed events and activities, iconic elements such as beads, beignets, and jazz music, specially-themed recreational offerings throughout the resort, and a golf cart parade that traverses both Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside and Disney’s Port Orleans-French Quarter. This year’s installment of the golf cart parade, a tradition that is now in its tenth year, features the theme ‘The Legacy of Walt Disney World Resorts’.

Preparing for such a large-scale event is no easy undertaking. Cast members come up with ideas for the golf cart floats and decorate them themselves, which can take weeks to months of planning. This year, for the first time, the cast members ‘floats’ will get extra attention as guests are able to take their pictures with their favorite float.
