Due to the expected impacts of Hurricane Irma, the US Coast Guard of the Port (COTP) has set Hurricane “Condition Yankee” for Port of Canaveral. Port Condition Yankee designates that sustained gale force winds are predicted within 24 hrs. Condition Yankee marks the last chance to further prepare Port Canaveral as well as mitigate potential heavy weather threats. Only essential Port personnel will report to work.
As of 3:00 PM today, Port Canaveral will cease all operations and is closed until further notice.
Yesterday the Canaveral Port Authority released all non-essential employees from work at close of business. At 12 Midnight, all non-hurricane Port operations had ceased.
