Great Playhouse Disney news from Allyourtv.com
The Disney Channel has just picked up the 26-episode 3-minute short-form animated series Small Potatoes.
The series, created and directed by Josh Selig, founder and president of New York City-based Little Airplane Productions, follows the adventures of a band of four adorable potatoes who sing to celebrate their imagination. Each episode features a new song written in an entirely different musical style.
The series made its big screen debut at the 12th annual BAMKids International Film Festival where “Imagination (Give it a Try)” won a BAMmie for Best Short Film for ages 2-5.
The series marks the company’s first preschool property designed specifically to work across multimedia platforms that include TV, games, music, publishing, Apps, film, consumer products and the web. The company’s best known current property is the Nick series Wonder Pets.
Small Potatoes has already been sold to CBeebies in the UK, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, ABC TV in Australia and TVO and Knowledge in Canada.
It will premiere in Spring 2011.
