Old Key West Resort

Old Key West Resort

Disney’s Old Key West Resort is a gorgeous, tropical themed resort located near Downtown Disney.  The theming of this resort is reminiscent of the lazy, relaxing days of the Florida Keyes.  Old Key West is part of the DVC, however guests who are not DVC members are more than welcome to stay here, too.  The rooms at this resort are One Bedroom Villas, Two Bedroom Villas, and Deluxe Studios.  Each of the Villas has a fully equipped  kitchen.  The Deluxe Studios have a small kitchenette-while not as fully equipped as the One and Two Bedroom Villas, it is still very sufficient!  The rooms range in guests that they can accommodate-with the 2 Bedroom Villa sleeping up to nine guests.

Pools:  The main pool has a 125 foot water slide, a sandy beach to relax on, and dolphins that spout water at you.  How fun!  Old Key West is also home to three additional “leisure” pools.  These are typically quieter, offering a relaxing atmosphere for guests traveling without children, or even with very young children.

This is one of the few resorts on property that has an exercise facility.  There are also options to jog on a 3 mile trail, rent bikes, fish, and engage in basketball and volleyball games.  Plenty to keep you busy and getting your exercise in while on vacation!

For families, you’ll be pleased to know that Old Key West has three playgrounds.  When visiting these, you can let your kids run off some steam, jump, play, and swing after a day at the parks.  It also gives you another option for your “resort day”-pools and playgrounds are great!  In the evening, there is an option for Old Key West Campfire and Movies Under the Stars.

When at Old Key West, there are several dining options as well.  Casual dining is at Olivia’s Cafe for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  You’ll find fresh fruit, omelets, pancakes, eggs, and french toast on the menu.  For lunch and dinner, you’ll find pork chops, steaks, chicken dishes, salads, as kid friendly items.  Olivia’s Cafe is on the Disney Dining Plan and reservations are recommended.  For quick dining, you’ll want to check out the Good’s to Go.  Here you can grab sandwiches, burgers, and snacks after a day at the parks.

Transportation to Disney parks from Old Key West is via Disney bus system.

Overall, we give this resort an “A”!
