Planes: Fire & Rescue Media Movie Screenings have been happening all week long in Hollywood area theatres. On my third screening of the movie in so many weeks, I was able to focus on and enjoy the incredible details Disney Toon Studios have incorporated into the movie. Like Frozen with Ice, Planes: Fire & Rescue takes the power of fire and uses it to not only enhance the movie’s story line but to pay tribute to the many firefighters on the ground and in the air that work hard to ensure our safety. The many scenes full of fire and smoke in the air and on the ground are so realistic and powerful, you will be on the edge of your seat cheering for Dusty and the Gang. The scene where Harvie and Winnie voiced by Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara as husband and wife RVs trapped on a bridge was a nail biting, eyes glued to the screen, armrests gripped with anxiety filled moments. But even in the midst of fire fighting and jumping from planes, Disney manages to add humor and fun. Kids of all ages, will love the new characters and Dusty’s newest adventure as a fire fighting SEAT (Single Engine Air Tanker.
Planes: Fire & Rescue has Dusty voiced by Dane Cook, now a world famous racer. Dusty is not made for speed or racing and ends up with engine trouble grounding him from racing possibly forever. Fellow PropWash Junction friends, Skipper Riley (Stacey Keach), Sparky the forklift (Danny Mann) along with fellow forklift, Dottie (Teri Hatcher) try to help Dusty fix his engine but parts are hard to come by which leads Dusty into considering a new career path. Old fire engine, Mayday (Hal Holbrook) is old and needs a fellow firefighter to help keep Propwash Junction open and in compliance. Dusty decides to help MayDay and sets out to Piston Peak National Park to train with Blade Ranger (Ed Harris) the Fire and Rescue Helicopter and his crew. Through a series of training exercises and actual firefighting, Dusty finally earns his firefighting title and returns to PropWash Junction as their newest firefighter.
Planes: Fire & Rescue brings new characters to love and enjoy. Blade’s team includes Super Scooper -Lil’ Dipper (Julie Bowen), Windlifter (Wes Studi) who is a heavy-lift helicopter, Cabbie (Dale Dye) who is an ex-military transport plane who are the air attack team. The smokejumpers – which are the all-terrain vehicles include Dynamite (Regina King), Pinecone (Corri English), Avalanche (Bryan Callen), Blackout (Danny Pardo) and Drip (Matt Jones) and provide lots of comic relief even in the middle of fighting fires and jumping out of planes. Also included in the movie are real life married couple (Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara) Harvie and Winnie as husband and wife RVs, Ol’ Jammer the tour bus (Barry Corbin), Helicopter Police Officer – Nick Loop n Lopez (Erik Estrada), Biplane “Leadbottom” (Cedric the Entertainer), and the beautiful luxury SUV “Cad Spinner (John Michael Higgins) along with Pulaski (Patrick Warburton) who is a structural firefighting truck and Ryker (Kevin Michael Richardson) a transportation management safety truck, Secretary of the Interior Jeep (Fred Willard) and a special appearance by Brad Paisley as Bubba the pick up truck round out the cast.
