It looks like the dinosaurs are facing extinction…
A recent permit indicates we might soon see the complete removal of the Primeval Whirl attraction. The attraction has been closed for months, plus we saw the removal of ride vehicles in December. The recent permit suggests that the attraction may soon be demolished next. We know the attraction is permanently closed, so the complete removal seems likely if work is being done.
Primeval Whirl opened in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2002 and was a steel Wild Mouse roller coaster. It was part of Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama located in DinoLand U.S.A. It had cars that spin in circles while traveling on tracks, permitting the ride experience to vary greatly each time it is ridden. Last year Disney announced that the attraction would operate on a seasonal basis. But in recent months, Disney has made a change of plans. Disney confirms that the attraction is permanently leaving and will not be reopening.
Disney has yet to announce what might replace it at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We will be interested to see what new experience comes to the park!
