We have some sad news to pass along today. Patricia Disney, who was once married to Roy E. Disney the late nephew of Walt Disney, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 77. Family spokesman Clifford Millard said she passed in her Los Angeles home surrounded by her children.

She was a longtime advocate for higher education and served as a trustee for Occidental College in Los Angeles and was a regent at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. She also served on the board of the Peregrine Fund which is a foundation that helps to protect birds of prey.

Bob Iger, the Walt Disney Company President and CEO released this statement expressing his condolences.

“Her passing marks a sad milestone for the Disney family, and we will always remember her irrepressible spirit and dedication to our company,” Iger said. “Patty was known for her kindness, outgoing nature and especially for her philanthropy, and will be missed by all who knew her.”
