New Orleans Could Be a New Port for Disney Cruise Line

DISNEY DREAM AT SEA

The Port of New Orleans is looking to make a huge leap in the cruise ship game. Officials have been meeting with Disney Cruise Lines about the potential to make New Orleans one of the ports of call for DCL. The city has a proposed new cruise terminal being built at the end of this year and bringing DCL or another big line in to the city will be a huge pay day for New Orleans.

“Certainly to bring a plum like Disney to New Orleans is a very good thing,” said Port of New Orleans President Gary LaGrange.

LaGrange says talks to lure Disney here are in the very early stages and could take months if not longer to get an answer.

“It’s like getting a Super Bowl to agree to come to New Orleans.  You start well in advance while all the planning and preparations can take place,” LaGrange explained.

Disney has said that even though they are always looking at new locations but at this time, New Orleans is not part of the cruise line’s itinerary.  But that does not mean one day it will not be a great home for a ship or two from DCL.

The new terminal will be home to two ships with a cruising capacity of up to 12,000 passengers every weekend.
