Orlando International Airport Expects to Host Over 2 Million Travelers this Thanksgiving

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is gearing up for a bustling travel period, with an expected influx of over two million passengers during a 12-day span—an impressive 17% surge from the previous year.

To ensure a smooth travel experience, MCO recommends passengers check in at the airport ticket counter three hours before their flight, proceed to the checkpoint two hours prior, and be at the gate an hour before departure.

The apex of travel activity is anticipated on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, with an estimated 187,000 travelers navigating through the airport.

In preparation for the heightened demand, MCO has augmented its parking facilities, adding approximately 2,000 extra spaces compared to the previous year. Travelers can avail themselves of various parking options, including multiple garages and lots across Terminals A, B, C, Terminal Top, North Park Place, and South Park Place.

Additionally, supplementary lots like West Park Place and an Overflow lot will be activated during peak times, complete with enhancements such as temporary fencing and lighting. Travelers are encouraged to utilize the Orlando MCO App and website for real-time parking updates.

“The Aviation Authority and our airport partners are energized by the challenge of this year’s expected Thanksgiving holiday passenger surge, which solidifies our status as the nation’s premier visitor destination,” says Kevin Thibault, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

“Orlando International is preparing for the increase and encourages passengers to follow the 3-2-1 timeline. Our security checkpoints will be fully staffed, additional parking has been added and seasoned professionals stand ready to provide assistance to enhance the customer experience.”
