We are saddened to report that former child actor Peter Robbins has passed away at the age of 65. Peter Robbins voiced the iconic animated character Charlie Brown throughout the 1960’s including A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965), It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966), Charlie Brown’s All Stars! (1966), You’re in Love, Charlie Brown (1967), He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown (1968), and It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown (1969), and A Boy Named Charlie Brown (1969).
According to reports from Robbins’ family, Peter committed suicide last week. Robbins struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, bipolar disorder, and paranoid schizophrenia throughout his life. He also served jail time for making criminal threats against a variety of people before being released from prison in 2019.
At the time of his release, Peter shared with FOX5 News, “I would recommend to anybody that has bipolar disorder to take it seriously because your life can turn around in the span of a month, like it did to me. I came out of prison and I’m a better person for it. I’m much more humble, grateful, and thankful that I lived through the experience.” He also had his Peanuts tattoo touched up after his release and shared that the tattoo of Charlie Brown and Snoopy was “a symbol to me of refurbishing my life. Charlie Brown fans are the greatest fans in the world. And everybody is willing, I hope, to give me a second chance.”
Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of Peter Robbins ?
