Accompanying the trailer is the exciting announcement of Maya Rudolph joining the cast as a guest star. She joins a powerhouse lineup that includes global pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter and executive producer/guest star Seth Rogen.

A Triumphant Return to the Muppet Theatre
The special event is set to premiere on February 4, 2026. Fans can catch the chaos in two ways:
- Disney+: Streaming starts at 12:00 a.m. PST / 3:00 a.m. EST.
- ABC: A primetime broadcast at 9:00 p.m. EST/PST.
In the newly released footage, we see Kermit the Frog navigating the familiar backstage bustle of the original Muppet Theatre. The trailer highlights a sweet moment between Sabrina Carpenter and Miss Piggy, where Carpenter confesses she’s a lifelong fan—much to the “modest” Piggy’s delight (and typical dramatic flair).

The timing of this special is no coincidence. In 2026, The Muppet Show celebrates its 50th anniversary. Originally created by Jim Henson in 1976, the series became a global phenomenon, welcoming icons like Elton John, Diana Ross, and Johnny Cash during its original five-season run.
To honor this legacy, the 2026 special is bringing back the core team of veteran performers, including:
- Bill Barretta, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel.
