The No. 1 New Year’s Eve Destination Airs LIVE Wed, Dec. 31, Beginning at 8/7c on ABC
ABC and Dick Clark Productions (DCP) have announced a historic first for America’s most-watched New Year’s celebration, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.” For the first time in its more than 50-year history, the show will add a live Central Time zone midnight countdown from Chicago.
This groundbreaking addition positions Chicago alongside the iconic Times Square live East Coast countdown and the only broadcast Spanish-language live Atlantic Time zone countdown from Puerto Rico. The new segment promises to inject Chicago’s dynamic energy and unique New Year’s festivities directly into homes across the nation.
The Chicago celebration will be headlined by a new host (to be announced soon) and will feature live performances and on-the-ground updates and reporting throughout the evening.

A Spectacular Showcase for the Windy City
Local officials and production executives expressed immense excitement for the Windy City’s debut.
“WLS-TV is ‘Chicago Proud’ to have the opportunity to showcase the amazing city of Chicago on ‘Dick Clark Rockin’ New Year’s Eve,’” said John Idler, general manager and president of WLS-TV Chicago. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson celebrated the news, highlighting the city’s unique appeal to a national audience.

Broadcast Details and Show Legacy
“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2026” will air live on ABC on Wednesday, Dec. 31, beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST (7:00 p.m. CST).
The No. 1 New Year’s Eve programming special each year, the broadcast continues its legacy of celebrating the year’s best in music, dynamic performances, and America’s favorite personalities. The previous year’s broadcast, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025,” attracted 29 million viewers at midnight.
Now in its 55th year, the show is produced by Dick Clark Productions, with Ryan Seacrest, Michael Dempsey, and Barry Adelman serving as executive producers.
