New Star Wars ‘Cassian Andor‘ Disney+ Series Synopsis Revealed. Star Wars fans have been excited to hear a new Star Wars Story following Cassian Andor from Rogue One will be coming soon to Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+. Not to spoil the film for anyone, but clearly the “new” story about Cassian will have to take place earlier in the Star Wars timeline than the film.
The Illuminerdi has now uncovered the series synopsis and here it is:
“Follows the adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor, which he originated in the 2016 film. The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”
Actor Diego Luna is set to reprise his role and is very excited to get started once the world starts running again. In February he shared his excitement to get to play the rebellious spy once again. “To have more time to develop the character, and to pilot a little longer, you know?” he said. “It’s amazing. When you’re piloting, the thing actually moves, you know? It’s fantastic. I just wanted to do more and more and more. But to be honest, it was something I really wanted to happen and I’m glad it’s happening.”
Luna continued to rave about the opportunity, “Now we can do magic, right? And go back in time and say we’re going to tell a story that happened before the film. I’m going to look younger, and I’m going to get to play with those toys again. It’s nice to start something you know how it’s going to end. It’s a different approach, and the beauty is that people already have a connection with that character, so now we’re going to tell you what had to happen for Rogue One to exist.”
The new series will stream exclusively on Disney+ and will likely premiere sometime in 2021. Diego Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor, as well as Alan Tudyk, returning to his role as Cassian’s snarky and sarcastic partner in crime, K-2SO.
