New Space Mountain-Style Marquee Installed at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom
Buzz Lightyear is getting a fresh new launch pad in Tomorrowland. Disney has installed a brand-new marquee at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom as refurbishment work on the attraction continues ahead of its planned spring 2026 reopening.

The new entrance sign features a sleek white spire design that closely resembles the iconic marquee used at Space Mountain nearby. Mounted to the center of the spire will be the main Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin attraction sign, though the lettering has not yet been installed. Beneath the sign structure, digital wait time clocks for both the standby queue and Lightning Lane are already in place.
Construction walls still surround the entrance area while crews finish installing the updated signage and continue work on new concrete flooring in front of the attraction. The installation follows the removal of the previous marquee earlier this year as part of the ongoing refurbishment.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed since August 2025 for a major overhaul designed to modernize the classic Tomorrowland shooter attraction. When it reopens, guests can expect new scenes, upgraded ride vehicles, and improved gameplay technology.
Among the biggest upgrades are redesigned Star Command-inspired ride vehicles featuring onboard screens that display real-time scores. The attraction will also introduce handheld blasters replacing the original fixed cannons, allowing riders to aim more freely. These new blasters will include vibration feedback, sound effects, and visible laser beams to help players track their shots.

Interactive targets throughout the ride are also being upgraded to react more clearly when hit, lighting up and providing better gameplay feedback. Disney Imagineers have also reworked the opening sequence to introduce a new support robot named Buddy, while the hyperspace tunnel will feature updated projection technology showcasing Buzz Lightyear and Emperor Zurg.
Disney has not yet announced an official reopening date for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin beyond a general spring 2026 timeframe, but the installation of the new marquee suggests the attraction is getting closer to welcoming Space Rangers back to Tomorrowland.
