Scaffolding and Scrim Go Up Around Millennium Falcon at Hollywood Studios
The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy is getting a little behind-the-scenes attention. Scaffolding and scrim have recently been installed around the Millennium Falcon outside of Smugglers Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, signaling some ongoing work in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The scaffolding is positioned behind the Falcon and rises high enough to reach the upper sections of the ship. Portions of the structure are covered with tan scrim, helping to blend the construction into the Batuu environment, though it only covers part of the setup. The back side of the scaffolding remains open, offering a clearer look at the framework supporting the work.
A flat platform near the top of the structure suggests crews may be focusing on areas higher up on the Falcon’s exterior. While Disney has not shared any official details about the project, the scope appears relatively contained, and the attraction itself is expected to remain open during the work.

This update comes as anticipation builds for a new Smugglers Run experience featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu, set to debut on May 22, 2026, alongside the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu film. While it’s unclear if the current work is connected, the timing certainly adds an extra layer of intrigue.
For now, guests can still visit Batuu and pilot the Falcon, even if it’s temporarily sharing the spotlight with a bit of construction.
