New MagicBand+ Signage Added to Fab 50 Statues at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World has introduced new signage to enhance the guest experience with the beloved Fab 50 statues. These gold sculptures, installed as part of the resort’s 50th anniversary celebration, now feature updated instructions for interacting with their magical sound effects using MagicBand+.

Make a Circle, Not a Wave

Previously, guests were advised to “wave” at the statues to activate their sounds and effects. The new signs, which we first spotted in Magic Kingdom, now instruct guests to make a circular gesture with their MagicBand+ instead. The signs, placed next to many of the statues, read:

MagicBand+
Make a circular gesture with your MagicBand+ to experience the magic.

At the top of each sign is a helpful graphic illustrating the circular motion, while a QR code at the bottom leads guests to the Disney Fab 50 Quest on the My Disney Experience app. This handy addition ensures that all guests know how to bring these statues to life effortlessly.

Fab 50 Statues: A Magical Keepsake

The Fab 50 statues debuted in 2021, celebrating Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Featuring iconic characters like Goofy, Pluto, and Mickey Mouse, these statues became an instant hit with fans. During the anniversary celebration, Disney added seasonal greetings for Halloween and the holidays, delighting guests with extra surprises.

While the 50th anniversary celebration concluded in early 2023, Disney opted to keep the statues as a permanent fixture in the parks. By the end of 2023, the commemorative “50” medallions were removed from the statues, ensuring they remain timeless tributes to Disney’s most beloved characters.

Enhanced Interaction for All Guests

The introduction of these signs is a thoughtful update, providing clarity for guests who may have previously struggled with the wave-based activation. Now, with clear instructions and visual guidance, interacting with the Fab 50 statues has never been easier.

Spotting the Signs Around the Parks

These new signs have also been spotted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it’s likely they’ll appear at all parks featuring Fab 50 statues. Whether you’re exploring Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom, the updated MagicBand+ instructions ensure that guests can continue to enjoy the magic these statues bring.
