New iPhone App Planned for Disneyland’s Hidden Mickeys

Disneyland Hidden Mickey fans, your time has come.

An iPhone app for tracking down the Hidden Mickeys at Disneyland will soon join the app for Hidden Mickeys at Walt Disney World, which has been delighting guests to the Florida parks since 2009.

Both apps are produced by Campbell/Gambill Designs of Orlando, Florida, and are based on the best-selling books by Steven M. Barrett, known to thousands of Disney fans as “Mr. Hidden Mickeys.”

Hidden Mickeys are images of Mickey Mouse cleverly concealed throughout Disney theme parks, hotels, restaurants and other areas. Created by Disney artists and designers, they have become a vacation destination in their own right.

Barrett has documented the craze in Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World’s Best Kept Secrets (Intrepid Traveler, $12.95) and Disneyland’s Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Disneyland Resort’s Best Kept Secrets ($9.95). The third book in the series is Hidden Mickeys Go To Sea: A Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line’s Best Kept Secrets ($6.95).

A physician in real life, Barrett lives in Orlando and has been visiting Walt Disney World regularly since he fell under its spell in the 1980s. He is also the author of The Hassle-Free Guide to Walt Disney World 2011, now in its 10th edition (Intrepid Traveler, $15.95).
