New Disney Movies Rumored To Be Headed To The Big Screen

Disney fans all over the world are thrilled with the new movies hitting the big screen. Whether it’s a live action remake of your favorite childhood animated Disney film or a sequel to beloved series movies, there are tons of rumored remakes in the works.

Princess Diaries 3: After 20 years, Anne Hathaway may be reprising her role as Mia Thermopolis. After tons of speculation, Meg Cabot, author of the novel series that started it all, was quoted as saying “[It] could happen, as we say. I am not allowed to say.” Director Gary Marshall wanted the third piece of the story to come about before his passing in 2016.

Father of the Bride: Fans of Father of the Bride have been patiently waiting for the 3rd movie to happen for quite some time. Steve Martin may, in fact be headed back to the theater. According to George Newbern, Charles Shyer, the director of the first two already has the script. Newburn also stated “I’m sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right. So maybe that’s just a question of that happening.”

Honey, I Shrunk The Kids: Although Disney is super busy these days remaking those animated favorites into live action pieces, it seems as though some of the live actions may be getting rebooted as well. Rick Moranis accidentally shrunk his kids back in the late 1980s and caused them to survive their own backyard as the size of insects. Today’s technology could really turn this classic into an incredible film!

The Parent Trap: Along with those classic live action favorites is a rumored reboot of The Parent Trap. The original was produced in 1961 and Lindsay Lohan took part in the 1998 remake. Disney may decide this film needs another run with a fresh story line. We’ll just have to wait and see.

A Bug’s Life 2: Who doesn’t remember this incredible classic Pixar film? Almost 20 years ago, these insects stole our hearts and they may now be getting a sequel. Disney has recently hinted that it may be coming soon. A simple tweet with a still from the movie with a caption that read “Try a new perspective” has fans incredibly excited that the second part of the film is on the horizon!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame: With so many classic animated films getting a fresh breath lately, Disney fans are anxiously anticipating official news on this one. Disney songwriter and composer Alan Menken recently stated in regards to the sequel “Possibly, I can’t say anything yet but I think Hunchback would make an amazing live-action musical.”

National Treasure 3: Nicolas Cage could be back on the hunt for more historic treasures if this film gets a third installment. He recently told Entertainment Weekly on a script rumor “I know that it’s been a challenge to get the script where it needs to be. That’s as much as I’ve heard. But they’re still working on it.”

Haunted Mansion: Guillermo del Toro is rumored to be planning a reboot of the Haunted Mansion (and has been working on it since 2010). This 2003 film starring Eddie Murphy wasn’t a huge favorite but with a little tweaking, could instantly become amazing!

Pirates of the Caribbean 6: Johnny Depp fans rejoice! There may be a sixth installment of the fantastically popular Pirates of the Caribbean on the horizon. Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the franchise recently told Variety “[If] Johnny wants to do another one and Disney wants to write a check, we’ll be there.”
